These nurses work out of Kilbirnie Health Centre providing a range of services to patients who are housebound, recently discharged from hospital, or require dressings or injections. They also provide health care and advice to those who are seriously ill at home, and to their relatives.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors cover Kilbirnie and advise on pre-school children and services to the elderly and teenagers. They encourage uptake of immunisation and assist in child development assessment and immunisation.

Community Midwives work with the doctors to provide care for women before and after their delivery and care for baby and mother over the first 2 weeks of life.

  • Antenatal – Wednesday am
Dietician

The Dietician gives advice to those wishing to lose weight, those on special diets and assists with dietary problems at our diabetic clinics. Appointments are made through a doctor.

Podiatrist

The Podiatrist provides podiatry for pensioners and those younger who have a medical condition requiring chiropody. 

Physiotherapists

A full range of treatment is available at Kilbirnie Health Centre. An appointment is arranged through a doctor.

Community Psychiatric Nurse

The CPN can help with mental problems in a community setting. Appointments are again arranged through a doctor.

Asthma, Heart Failure, Respiratory & Diabetic Nurses

These nurses come from the hospital to the patient’s home to advise on lifestyle and assist with management of medical problems in the home setting.

Stoma Nurse

This nurse comes from hospital to advise on stoma care.

Social Services

These people are available to help with social problems. The Home Help Organiser, Social Workers and Occupational Therapist can be contacted on this number.
